Course Description

1.         MCCEE Course Description

The MCCEE (Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Exam) is an evaluating examination organized and conducted by the Medical Council of Canada (MCC). It is the first exam that must be successfully cleared by any foreign educated physician or medical candidate wishing to enter a postgraduate training position in Canada.

At CME SCHOOL (Comprehensive Medical Education School), we provide IMGs/CSAs a comprehensive MCCEE preparatory course with a clear perspective of all major topics and subjects.

The MCCEE course will cover the following subjects; General Approach to MCCEE, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Ethics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Statistics & Public Health.

At the end of the course, an evaluating mock exam will be held in order to give each applicant a detailed assessment before he/she takes the MCCEE.

Oral feedback with comprehensive explanations will be provided after the course. Instructors who will focus on each candidate’s medical knowledge will provide the feedback.

In order to be practical and efficient, we chose to accept a maximum of 25 candidates per course.

2.         NAC-OSCE Course Description

The National Assessment Collaboration (NAC) is an alliance of Canadian organizations streamlining the evaluation process for international medical graduates (IMGs) seeking a license to practice medicine in Canada.

The NAC-OSCE examination assesses the readiness of an IMG for entrance into a Canadian residency program. It is a national, standardized examination that tests the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for entrance into postgraduate training in Canada.

Comprising a series of clinical stations, the NAC-OSCE exam presents typical clinical scenarios. Our NAC-OSCE course will teach IMGs the practice model for Canadian doctor-patient encounter with emphasis on major typical situations.

The NAC-OSCE course will cover the following subjects; General Approach to NAC-OSCE Exam, History Taking, Cardiology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Trauma, Counseling, Ortho/Rheum, Physical Exam, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Physical Exam, Communication Skills, Emergency Medicine, Post-Encounter and of course hands-on practice case scenarios (several ones for every topic except for Post-Encounter).

Oral feedback with comprehensive explanations will be provided after every practice case scenario. The feedback will be done by instructors who will focus on your medical knowledge and skills and by our experienced Standardized Patients (native speaker Canadian actors) who will focus on your communication and interaction skills as well as on your grammar and communication skills (in case you are an IMG and need some help with it). CME School focuses on both medical knowledge as well as interaction and communication skills because both are pivotal for high scores on NAC-OSCE Exam.

3.         MCCQE1 Course Description

The Qualifying 1 Examination tests both basic and clinical medicine as well as your clinical decision making capacity (CDM). This exam is organized and conducted by the Medical Council of Canada (MCC). Our team of MDs prepared a comprehensive Qualifying 1 Examination course that will deeply focus on the CDM element and strengthen your basic and clinical medical knowledge.

The Qualifying 1 Examination (MCCQE1) Course will cover the following subjects; General Approach to both basic and clinical medicine as well as your clinical decision making capacity (CDM), Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Ethics, Statistics & Public Health, at the same time a daily CDM cases will be given to assess your clinical decision making capacity.

At the end of the course, an evaluating mock exam will be held in order to give each applicant a detailed assessment before he/she takes the Qualifying 1 Examination.

Oral feedback with comprehensive explanations will be provided after the course. Instructors who will focus on each candidate’s medical knowledge as well as his/her clinical decision making capacity (CDM) will provide the feedback.

4.         MCCQE2 Course Description

The Qualifying 2 Examination consists of a series of clinical stations including pilot stations that do not count towards a candidate’s total score. At each station, a brief written statement introduces a clinical problem and directs the candidate to appropriately examine a standardized (simulated) patient as well as perform activities such as obtaining a focused history, conducting a focused physical examination, or assessing and addressing the patient’s issues. Candidates may be asked to answer specific questions related to the patient, interpret X-rays or the results of other investigations, make a diagnosis and/or write admission orders.

Given the fact that the Qualifying 2 Examination is a OSCE-type of Exam. CME SCHOOL puts more emphasize on instructing international doctors on the Canadian Style of doctor-patient encounter.
